The aim of the meeting: This conference has two purposes. The first is to discuss recent work in the identification of quantum states and operations. This includes work on state discrimination of both pure and mixed states, state comparison, programmable state discriminators, operator discrimination, and generally work whose purpose is to determine the identity or nature of a quantum state or operation. Applications of these concepts to quantum information, in particular, quantum computing and quantum cryptography will also be covered. The second purpose is to celebrate the 60th birthday of Janos Bergou. Janos's work in recent years has focussed on the above topics, and holding a workshop of this type is a good way of honoring both his contribution to physics and him as a person. Conference fee: The conference fee 250€ (125€ for accompanying person) includes all local expenses (accommodation, food, coffee breaks, conference banquet). The fee could be paid via bank transfer before June 1st, or in cash during the meeting. Organized by: Mark Hillery (mhillery@hunter.cuny.edu) Accommodation: All participants will be accommodated in Budmerice chateaux and facilities belonging to this chateaux.
